MAVKA FEST — Festival Production & Hosting

Mavka Festival (2024–2025)

Role: Lead Organizer, Event Producer, Coordinator & Festival Host

Mavka Festival is an annual cultural event in Faringdon (UK) dedicated to celebrating Ukrainian heritage through art, folklore, music, community—and the mythical figure of Mavka, a powerful symbol of femininity, nature, and spiritual strength in Ukrainian folklore.

For the festival, we transported a unique Mavka sculpture from Ukraine to the UK, turning it into the central art installation and emotional core of the entire event.

Held in 2024 and 2025, the festival continues to grow each year and features:

Ukrainian food courts, including free traditional borscht for all guests,
creative zones for children (art, crafts, books, flowers, games),
live performances: theatre, vocalists, bandura players, dancers,
interactive experiences such as dance workshops and the guided “Find Yourself” blindfolded session,
art exhibitions, local makers, and access to Ukrainian literature.

I serve as one of the primary organizers and producers of the festival, leading the operational, creative, and strategic side of the project together with my partner Anastasia Nemchuk.

My responsibilities include:

Leadership & Coordination

Full-cycle event coordination and on-site management
Hosting the festival and engaging with the audience throughout the event
Managing volunteer teams and ensuring smooth collaboration across all departments
Delegating tasks effectively and maintaining clear communication between performers, vendors, contractors, and technical crews.

Production & Logistics

Scheduling and supervising performances, workshops, and activity zones
Coordinating food court logistics and ensuring compliance with safety standards (including allergen control)
Overseeing technical support (sound, music, equipment) through delegated specialists
Managing risk, problem-solving in real time, and working confidently under pressure

Creative & Strategic Development

Talent scouting and discovering new performers, artists, and educators
Conducting deep research to expand the festival’s artistic and cultural program
Developing marketing and content strategies, including video production and social media promotion
Hiring and coordinating photographers and videographers

Mavka Festival is more than an event—it is a growing cultural platform that unites local communities, introduces British audiences to Ukrainian culture, and creates a space for connection, learning, and creativity.
